Tarocco Blood Orange
The Italians regard this as one of their finest oranges.
It is regarded as a half blood as is is not as pigmented as the other two varieties grown in Sicily, Sanguinello and Moro.
The tree has to be fairly large before it bears fruit properly though. The fruit is lightly pigmented and the shape is similar to that of the Minneola Tangelo with a pronounced neck.
The deeper the colour of the flesh the richer the raspberry-like flavour becomes.
