This is a really ancient Citrus species.
The fruit can be quite large, with very bumpy, thick rind.
When it is fully ripe, it is yellowy orange, the oil in the skin has a distinctive scent and can be used for candied peel.
The fruit is much revered used in religious festivals such as the Jewish Feast of the Tabernacles.
