Calamondin Orange Variegated, also known as Calamansi Lime Variegated
Variegated Calamondin Orange. Variegated form, slower growing than its green cousin otherwise very similar in habit.
Thought to be a natural hybrid between a Kumquat and an acid Mandarin, neither of which flower more that once a year usually, this variety is in flower almost non-stop.
Small Sour orange like fruit are produced on this plant which is rarely without fruit and flowers.
It often has ripe orange fruit along with smaller green fruit and flowers on it all at once!
Often nicknamed Tigerella because of its stripey fruit.
This is also known as the Calamansi Lime in the Philippines and stays green over there as it is much warmer and cold is need for the fruit to change colour.
It is very ornamental. The fruit makes a wonderful marmalade is also good in drinks and for cooking.
