The pigmentation in Pink Grapefruit occurs when there are prolonged high temperatures. The best colour is achieved in climates like Florida where they are grown on a large commercial scale. Although we may not achieve the pink colour some years in England the flavour is still usually excellent. We have seen some very deep reds on the inside of "Star Ruby" fruit in warm summers though.
